Our Programs

All of our programs are provided at no cost to the client.

  1. youth thumbs upVision Screening & Correction: We offer free diagnostic eye screening for individuals ages 4-18+ in impoverished rural areas of Africa, such as Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, Liberia, Cameroon and Mali.
  2. Clinical Referrals & Treatment: If a visual impairment is discovered, we will refer the individual to a local doctor who is willing to accept low and no income patients. These doctors will offer their services on a sliding scale appropriate to the income level of the client. If further treatment is necessary, the doctor will refer the individual to a specialist such as an ophthalmologist, optometrist, or optician.
  3. Glaucoma Screening, Prevention & Care Options: Glaucoma refers to a group of diseases that damage the optic nerve and result in visual impairment or blindness. With early detection and treatment, an individual can prevent serious vision loss. Our screening will specifically scan each client for glaucoma related conditions.
  4. Diabetes Retinopathy Screening & Care Options: Diabetes Retinopathy refers to any eye disease that can result as a complication of diabetes. Potential conditions include cataracts and damage to the retina’s blood vessels. We will scan each client for these conditions during our screening sessions to promote early detection and treatment.
  5. Vitamin A Deficiency Supplement Campaign: If an individual is deficient in Vitamin A, it can result in visual impairments and unpleasant ocular effects. We will promote increase in Vitamin A intake through the consumption of sweet potatoes, carrots, dark leafy greens, squash, and cantaloupes.
  6. Education & Career Opportunities for the Visually Impaired: We will provide Braille books and computer technology for visually impaired youth from the ages of 4-18. To be eligible for the program, the youth must reside in one of our areas of focus, and they must be willing to attend school. Items will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Once the child completes their schooling, the item will need to be returned so that it can be used for the next child in need. We will also offer career training opportunities for visually impaired adults residing in our target areas. We will help these individuals locate career training programs in the areas of woodwork, culinary arts, and information technology. Once the client has finished their training, we will help them find employment.
  7. Eye Research Information & Fellowships: We provide grant opportunities to other 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to researching visual impairments and discovering new methods of restoring visual capability.
